Preparing for 15mm Waterloo

The time for Waterloo is fast approaching,  On Saturday at the NWS gaming day we tried out the table configuration for the 15mm game of Waterloo using Napoleon's Battles.  Apart from some concern about the two games butting up against each other, a risk we christened "Carlo's Corner", we think we can get everything to fit without problem.

For the 15mm game we are using printed terrain covering the whole battlefield and a good amount of the surrounding area.  Should provide for plenty of options to try out "what-ifs?"

The table is nine foot by five and needs to accommodate around ten players.  The team are busy getting up to speed with the rules (Second Edition, basic rules only, well, mostly).

The scenario is using an order of battle distilled from the Mark Adkin's book The Waterloo Companion.  That book will also provide the information for initial set up and timing for the Prussians.  The map is by Alfonso Peral, as provided to the Napoleon's Battles Yahoo Group.

Current challenge is to get the best figures we can for the game as well as generate play aids to help the players and any observers make sense of what is going on.  The interesting thing will be to see how many turns of the battle we can complete on the day.

NWS Gaming Day - Regimental Fire and Fury

Heth passes over the creek on his way to the assault.

53rd NC prepares to die hard!
Last Saturday the club had the chance to play some games at leisure with our bi-monthly games day.

Daniel and Mario had a gaggle of students playing colonials and they all seemed to be having a great time.  Well done to them all for coming to the club and having a great time.

Martin, Phil, Steve and myself played an action from day one at Gettysburg - The battle for McPhersons ridge.

Great fun.

Preparations afoot for Waterloo circa 2015

French from Reilles Corps prepare for the big push at the NWS

Preparations are well under way at the Napoleonic Wargaming Society for a wonderful day of commemorating the final "great" battle of the Napoleonic Wars.  On Saturday, June 13th 2015 the club will be putting on two large games that centre on the great engagement at Waterloo.

Mark H and the 15's crowd will be putting on a deluxe version of Waterloo using the ever popular and re-ascending Napoleons Battles.  He already has a big contingent of ten players ready to take the field to see if Boney can get his revenge or whether history will once again shine on Wellington, Blucher and the glorious Allies.

The specially commissioned logo for club to celebrate the occassion.

The other game will involve the most dramatic D'Erlons attack upon the allied positions in 28mm and using the wonderfully crafted General De Brigade rules from the very clever Dave Brown.  This will involve two 12 x 6 tables and over ten players.
