Diplomacy turn 3

Newspaper for turn 3

The purpose of the newspaper was to  put a faint "real world" echo of the game in to players minds to keep everyone engaged and entertained.

Diplomacy Game

Turn 3

Countries build or lose units at the end of the Fall turn of each year. Basically the second turn of the year which is always the even numbered turn.

The map below shows the map for the beginning of turn 3 after the builds at the end of turn 2.

The three new armies of Germany appear ominiously on the middle of the board. Russia, starting with 4 units, also now has 6 units and each other country has gained 1.  A glimmer of alliances start to appear, Germany Austria and Russia seem to have a cordon sanitaire to allow them to focus on other areas.

Outcomes of turn 3.

Austria has gained Greece and Turkey is beginning to look besieged by Austria, Russia and Italy. The Black Sea fleet of Turkey suffers the first retreat of the game being forced to retreat from the Black Sea to Armenia.

The Italian player entered into the spirit of the the times by issuing his diplomatic notes in a very stylish manner. This note to the Austrian Emporer was the beginning of negotiations for convoy of the Italian army in Tunis to Syria, this frst note mentions Smyrna but that was deemed unlikely to succeed.  We had an average of 40 diplomatic notes between countries each turn, not all were so colourful.

Outcome turn 2

Things start to hot up as players vie for different provinces.

Austria and Turkey contest Greece. Two successful convoys occur.  One give Tunis to Italy and the other gives Norway to England. Germany has conquered 3 territories.
